The land between Wing and Pilton is a big nesting site for lapwings which are a red list bird on the critically endangered species list. On a recent walk I saw at least 40 birds there. Their sites should be conserved as they will not return to an area that has been disturbed. The environmental impact of the proposed solar farm is huge and this should be followed up with the RSPB.

Sooner or later the world’s citizens will wake up enough to understand what this is really all about.

We’re trying to make that day come as soon as possible.

We wish the UK would learn from Germany’s “Energiewende”. Your Charlaticians do not yet appear ready or capable. So, you’ll all suffer until they do or replace them.

An excellent and persuasive summary of the issues with regard to solar farms in general and the specifics as they relate to the proposed Staveley Farm Development. Rutland's County Councillors really need see this and begin to face up to these facts... and quickly, before we allow ourselves to become the UK's solar farm capital. Irrespective of the roles of Bluestone Energy, Anglian Water Group PLC and the local Council, we should not lose sight of the part that the local landowner is playing in bringing about this threat to the environment by offering up the land for lease in the first place.

Thanks for this engaging and persuasive article, and pictures which convey the natural beauty of this landscape. Clearly this is the wrong place for large-scale solar, such a prominent hilltop. It will scar the countryside, surrounding views, local walks and local people.
